Redefining Biblical Wisdom and Discipline in our hearts...

We often think of growing in Biblical wisdom as learning more "about" God, and reading His Word to know stories and what He says is "right and wrong"....
We often think that discipline is our way of "doing" something in order to gain godliness and become more like Christ....

I read something by Matt Chandler that challenges this way of thinking...and I thought it was worth sharing:

Biblical wisdom is much deeper than just knowing the right words to say or knowing what to do with our lives. It is the revelation of God in us. When we ask for wisdom, we should be asking Him, "How do you want to form Christ in me through my circumstances?"

I don't use the word "discipline" in a legalistic way, but rather in the manner of 1 Corinthians 9: 25-27 ("self control in all things") and that we would dial into what is going on inside of us that keep us from praying more, from reading the Word more, and from maturing more and more and more. Pray that we would lead a life of continued introspection tha leads us to the very throne of God.

My prayer....
*That we would pray, with a sincere and honest heart to God, that He would use His Word in our lives to show us how He wants to make us more like Christ in our present circumstances.
*That we would really delve deep and think about how our circumstances are showing us HIM, and how HE wants to change us.
*That we would figure out what it is that keeps us from praying, reading, and maturing....and that we would make an effort to change those things, in order to grow in Him.
